Lambswool

Soft, fine wool made from the first shearing of six-month-old lambs.

Layer-look

Kate Moss has recently been promoting the layer-look, as testified by her pictures appearing in various magazines. The point is to combine many pieces of clothing, for instance a sleeveless shirt with another shirt or pullover (usually striped) and pipe jeans.

Leggings

Footless tights that can be worn under short denim skirts or short broomstick skirts.

Linen

A fabric woven with fibres from the flax plant. Linen is very tear-resistant, has good moisture absorption properties, a discreet shine and is cool to the touch, which is why it is particularly suitable for summer clothing. Material made from pure linen creases easily, which is why linen is often processed with other materials.

Microfibres

Fibres or filaments (threads) made from chemical fibres like polyamide or polyester, which are finer than the finest natural fibres made from silk.

Nylon

The generic term for Polyamide 6.6. Nylon was originally the brand name of the first polyamide fibres produced by the DuPont company.

Officer Jacket

A double-breasted jacket with a stand up collar (long-sleeved or sleeveless).

Outfit

A set of clothing, a dress. In ladies wear it signifies a clothing ensemble, or combination of garments.

Overall

An all-in-one suit – top and trousers in one.
